The launch of ICC Sydney’s More Than a Venue campaign in May marked a great moment for our team. It reflected the evolution of our positioning and helped to bring to life who we are and what we deliver – that is, a truly unique combination of people, services, partners and features that clearly set us apart from our competitors.
Our recent trip to Las Vegas for IMEX America was therefore a great opportunity for us to again take this promise – and our proof points – to the world, and to share more about the role ICC Sydney is playing as a pivotal connection point between clients and the local community. The authenticity of the program was an overwhelming response to our presentations.
More Than a Venue brings our Legacy Program to life. It tells the stories of the ways we’re helping enrich business event experiences through in-house expertise whilst also delivering positive change in our communities. This takes place across five key streams – Innovators & Entrepreneurs, Generation Next, First Australians, Sustainable Events and Creative Industries. We bring this to life in many ways like introducing clients and delegates to authentic Sydney experiences, from First Nations cultural performances to working with local charities to minimise food waste or giving young artists the opportunity to take to the stage at our international venue. This depth of connection is evident in the work that we have done and proves that ICC Sydney is more than a landmark venue - it’s a central part of the community.
This commitment to aligning both the delegate experience, for those visiting the city, and creating lasting positive community impact is a big focus for us. A great example was during the Australian Clean Energy Summit in July this year where local university students were invited to participate in a sustainability-focused challenge, which asked students to address a conference topic featured as part of the summit’s program. A selection of the submissions were chosen to be displayed in the event’s key networking areas, giving students an opportunity to present their ideas to delegates and immerse themselves amongst industry professionals.
Sustainability tours for delegates held during the Australian Gaming Expo in August this year is another example of our Legacy Program at work. Participants received a behind-the-scenes glimpse of ICC Sydney’s sustainability initiates – from our community funded solar array, electric car charges to water saving projects. Because waste was important to our client, we developed food donation signs for display at kiosks informing delegates that un-used food items would be donated to Oz Harvest. This resulted in hundreds of sandwiches, salads, wraps and sushi being diverted from landfill to support people in need.
In addition, we have also launched our edible centrepieces service – a unique initiative that allows clients to replace event floral arrangements with a sustainable solution that also supports the local Sydney community. Made out of fresh produce, these arrangements are then turned into delicious and nutritious meals by our culinary team and donated to the Mathew Talbot Hostel.
IMEX America was an important milestone for ICC Sydney. It gave us the chance to share our client experiences with a US audience and in turn, highlighted the lasting impression we are leaving on delegates and the legacy we are creating in Sydney. We look forward to being able to continue to share the stories of our clients and delegates as they experience the many ways in which ICC Sydney is More Than A Venue.
