Global first in safety management
ICC Sydney has attained the Safety Management System Standard ISO 45001:2018. Believed to be the first convention centre in the world to receive this international certification, we have set the benchmark on ensuring the safety and security of every person who walks through our doors. The global standards for occupational health and safety systems are focused on proactively reducing injury and ill-health in the work place, and further support our commitment to providing the safest possible environment for our people, clients and guests.

Industry security award
ICC Sydney’s people were recognised with an Outstanding Security Team Award at the Australian Security Industry Awards. Our security team’s experience, knowledge and relationships with authorities and the local community ensures we are able to cater for all event security requirements.

Clients and stakeholders ensure success for marketing campaign
At the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) congress in Houston, ICC Sydney was one of three finalists selected from across the world to compete for the Best Marketing Award. The global success of the IT’S SHOWTIME campaign, created to build excitement around our December 2016 opening, was in large part to the clients and stakeholders that embraced and activated the campaign – thank you!

Sydney receives global sustainability award
The City of Sydney was awarded the Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index Innovation Award during the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) congress. The city’s GDS-Index rise was also announced with Sydney now ranked as 8th in the world for sustainable business events. These GDS results and ICC Sydney’s role as partner in the City of Sydney’s Sustainable Destination Partnership, as well as our successful Legacy Program and proactive delivery of sustainability initiatives, were key contributors to this global win.

Regional support recognised
Highlighting our support of local winemakers, our Beverage Operations and Cellar Manager, William Wilson received the inaugural NSW Wine Industry Association President’s Award for Outstanding Support of the NSW wine industry. The accolade was presented at the NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards and recognised William’s commitment in providing our clients with the very best drops from the state while also delivering a positive impact to local producers.

Awards on the horizon
In the final awards of the year, ICC Sydney has been announced as a finalist for the Inclusive Workplace Award and the Marshall Goldsmith Talent Management Award at the Australian HR Institute Awards. The team is also up for Best Venue Team for our delivery of SIBOS 2018 and Best Corporate Citizen for our CSR initiatives and Legacy Program. Team member Aiden Hippensteel, an Event Operations Floor Manager, will also vie for a win as a finalist for the Richard Geddes Young Achiever Award.
