ICC Sydney Celebrates the Best of Hunter Valley Wines

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has returned from attending the annual Hunter Valley Wine Show, raising a glass to the region’s award-winning wines and deepening relations with new and existing suppliers from the area.
 
Representatives from the venue attended the prestigious CCL Label 2019 Hunter Valley Wine Show Celebrations Luncheon to celebrate medal winners and also met with producers to sample new varietals to bolster ICC Sydney’s existing portfolio of labels from the popular wine region.
 
ICC Sydney CEO, Geoff Donaghy said the trip was a great success and was the opportune time to meet the producers that the venue’s team is proud to promote.
 
“92% of our wine collection is sourced from New South Wales, which wouldn’t be complete without the wines from this important and historic wine region, home to some of the world’s oldest vines.
 
“Much to the delight of our clients and delegates, we have purchased more than 70,000 bottles of wine from Hunter Valley suppliers since we opened in December 2016, representing almost one third of all of our wine sold. We’ve come away from the Hunter Valley Wine Show with deeper relations and the inspiration needed to expand our existing list of New South Wales wines, which we’ll be launching later this year in line with our new 2020 culinary menu.”
 
ICC Sydney’s Beverage Operations and Cellar Manager, William Wilson said visitors and delegates to the venue were increasingly savouring Hunter Valley wines and commended the quality of the vintages on show.
 
“The calibre of wines at this year’s show demonstrates that the Hunter continues to deliver its own unique style with quality that is on par with any other region in Australia. I was delighted to see that most of the Hunter Valley wines already on our list picked up medals.
 
“We are proud to already support 12 Hunter-based wineries and this trip was a great opportunity to discover other great wines from the region.”
 
President of the NSW Wine Industry Association, Mark Bourne praised ICC Sydney for its dedication to growing the reputation of New South Wales wines and helping to put it on the global map.
 
“Since opening in December 2016, ICC Sydney has quickly become a cellar door to the world and it is having a noticeable impact, particularly for boutique labels. With the venue’s backing, we’ve seen a considerable lift in NSW sourced wines in Sydney restaurant cellars. It’s brilliant to see others are now following ICC Sydney’s lead.”
 
General Manager of Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association (HVWTA), Jo Thomas said it is terrific to see a large venue like ICC Sydney create such a positive difference to the region.
