International Convention Centre Sydney’s (ICC Sydney) campaign in the lead up to opening the venue to the public has received an accolade from Inaugural Leisure Industry Communication and Marketing Awards 2016.
The awards are a showcase of the best in leisure communications and marketing across various sectors and acknowledge those that have achieved industry excellence.
Recognising the high quality, clear and consistent information released, ICC Sydney’s award is a testament to the seamless delivery of its pre-opening campaign communication and marketing content.
Nigel Benton, publisher of leisure industry business magazine Australasian Leisure Management, said the campaign in the lead up to opening one of the most highly anticipated venues in the world has been nothing less than outstanding.
“With eyes watching from far and wide, their campaign has attracted attention both on a national and a global scale. They have truly raised the bar and set a precedent for the events industry to strive for.

Led by Communications Director, Samantha Glass, the pre-opening campaign has been strategically implemented with a focus on storytelling and utilising the power of connections.
A bespoke multi-channel social media strategy and custom magazine, Sydney Views, further enabled ICC Sydney’s pre-opening campaign to engage with local and international communities and generate new conversations on all levels and platforms.
“As part of one of the most exciting renewals in the past 25 years of Darling Harbour, we knew that we had to effectively engage with a diverse international audience that would range from clients and prospects to private and public stakeholders.
“By building meaningful connections with the communities within which we operate, we have been able to share their stories about ICC Sydney rather than us telling the world alone how spectacular the venue and its management team us.

The doors to the public will officially open this month and the showcase calendar of events, exhibitions and conventions extends to 500 confirmed events.
